the tented camp was opened in 1994. lake kitandara camp is the best camp for upper market visitors in bwindi national park. Recently refurbished in a traditional African style, it has unique tents which retain some original features but also have modern conveniences. the camp has a very charming and friendly atmosphere and feels very much a home away from home. views of bwindi forest from the terraced camp are simply breathtaking. if you are really lucky during your stay you may even get a surprise visit by the mountain gorillas.
Location
it is adjacent to bwindi forest impenetrable national park overlooking the beautiful forest with primates. A must is a trip to Bwindi National Park, a famous home for mountain gorillas.
The Park is situated in South Western Uganda on the edge of western lift valley (Albertine rift) It is 331 Square Kilometers in size and altitude range of 1,160 meters (Ishasha Gorge) to 2,607 meters (Rwamanyonyi Peak) the annual average temperature range is 7 degrees c to 20 degrees c with the coldest period being june and july. It is a home to 326 gorillas almost half of the world's population of mountain gorillas. there are 346 species of birds and over 200 species of butterflies.
The major activities are gorilla tracking, Bird watching, Nature walks, village walks and cultural performances.
