shela is a fourty-five minute walk south along the beach. Once around the point beyond the village and Kijani House, the dunes and the beach stretch for seven desert miles. There are intresting ruins at the back of the village, though Shela's most prominent landmark is its friday mosque built with a conical shaped minaret in 1829.
Location
is the last house on the sea front before the sand dunes start. A large, cool house.
Climate
the sea breezes which are ideal for sailing ensure the island does not get too hot. The annual pattern is: May & June: Some rain most days, intermittent sunshine, cool July & August: Showery, cool and breezy September & October: Mostly dry, warm and sunny November: Generally warm and sunny December - February: Hot and sunny, breezy March & April: Hot and sunny, calm and a little humid.
